Insurance Publications and Forms

You may also visit the Auto Insurance Rate Board (AIRB) website.  The AIRB sets premiums for basic coverage, monitors premiums for optional coverage and reviews and approves rating programs for new insurers entering the Alberta market. The board annually sets the maximum premiums for basic coverage that all insurers can charge.

Information about Insurance Companies

The list of insurance companies operating in Alberta available below includes the companies' head office address, Attorney for Service, and classes of insurance covered.  It also includes companies that have withdrawn, amalgamated or changed names.  Licences are issued on a calendar year basis (January 1 to December 31).  Consumers can use this list to verify if their insurance company is licensed.

Also available below is a list of Insurance Companies' Complaint Liaison Officers, which includes the company licence number and the officers' contact information.

Finally there is a report which provides details on insurance coverage available for the Alberta Voluntary Sector.

A STUDY OF PREMIUM STABILITY IN COMPULSORY AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE - In 1991 the Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs asked the Alberta Automobile Insurance Board to conduct a study on the stability of premiums for compulsory automobile insurance. The Study was released in September 1991 and contains two volumes. The Minister then asked Patricia Black, MLA to seek public response to the recommendations outlined in the Study.
